PRINCETON, W.Va. – Candace Wilson, the executive director of the Chuck Mathena Center, stopped by to discuss the non-profit organization on In Focus.
This edition hosted by WVVA’s Joshua Bolden.
Wilson chatting about how ticket sales from monthly concerts, your generous donations and your word-of-mouth support aid programs for our area children at all Mercer County Schools.
That financial aid helping make performances and events either free or little to no costs for the students.
Wilson noting that prior to the construction of the 800+ seat theater that students in the arts, like she once was at PSHS, would have to perform in school gymnasiums, cafeterias and outdoor fields.
Our Joshua Bolden also combs through the WVVA archives to showcase the process of bringing the Chuck Mathena Center to fruition.
It is all through reporting by Paige Kerkew, Alicia Suka and Paul Hess.
The center named after the late son of Charlie and Marquetta Mathena.
