Police in Renfrewshire have launched an investigation following a suspicious fire in Paisley.
Cops were called to Morven Avenue in the early hours of Sunday morning after a car was set alight. The incident happened around 1.50am and the vehicle was a silver Mercedes A150.
Police have confirmed that no one was injured in the incident and that the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service put out the blaze. No other vehicles were reportedly damaged.
Officers have now turned to the public for assistance as they are asking anyone with footage of the incident, or additional information which could help with their probe, to get in touch with them.
Detective constable Jack McElwee said: “Our enquiries are ongoing and I am appealing to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious around the time of the incident. Did you notice anyone hanging around the area?
“If you have dash-cam equipment, please check your footage as it may have captured images which could assist us. Any small piece of information could aid our inquiry so please do pass it on.”
Anyone with information can call police on 101, quoting incident number 0389 of January 26. Alternatively, details can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson added: “We were alerted at 1.50am on Sunday, January 26, to reports of one vehicle well alight on Morven Avenue, Paisley.
“Operations Control mobilised one appliance and firefighters extinguished a fire affecting a car.
“There were no reported casualties and crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”
