PRINCETON, W. Va. -If you are a fan of the Pokémon franchise, you may have wanted to follow their slogan: “Gotta Catch ‘Em All.” The library in Princeton is hoping to do just that by collecting every Pokémon in card form and giving one lucky participant a chance to do that as well.

With National Pokémon Day on February 27th, the Princeton Public Library is inviting the community to help them gather a card for each of the 1,084 Pokémon. This will complete their “National Pokédex” collection, that will include 1,025 types of Pokémon and their 59 regional variations.

In addition, each card you donate gets you a raffle ticket for a chance to win the entire binder at the end of the month. Youth services librarian, Elizabeth Dexter, says they’ve already had a few hundred cards donated since they began this challenge at their last Pokémon card exchange on January 18th.

We asked what makes these cards so popular among those of all ages.

“For older collectors, it may be a form of nostalgia; I know it is for me, personally. For the kids, it’s just excitement, getting new cards each time they open up a pack, exchanging with friends, it builds a nice community for the kids and adults alike…” says Dexter.

If you are interesting in participating, you will have until February 28th to bring a card to the library, with the drawing for the binder held on March 3rd. You can check on the Princeton Public Library’s Facebook page for posts about which cards they have and still need.
