No devices were found by security personnel and officials were able to detain the 41-year-old suspect, who is in the custody of SAPD.

SAN ANTONIO — Reports of a bomb threat closed West Military Drive near Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland Air Force Base early Monday morning.

The call initially came in to police at 4:32 a.m. San Antonio Police say the suspect walked up to the front gate and told officers that he had a bomb. Officials then cordoned off the area and they proceeded to conduct a sweep to look for the device. No devices were found by security personnel and officials were able to detain the 41-year-old suspect, who is in the custody of SAPD.

We reached out to officials at JBSA-Lackland who provided us with this statement:

“At approximately 5:00 a.m. Monday morning, a person approached security forces personnel at Luke East Gate, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, stating he had a device strapped to his person. JBSA security personnel took appropriate action by cordoning off the area and conducted appropriate sweeps. No devices were found. The person has been detained and is currently in San Antonio Police Department custody.

 Cordon is clear. Luke East Gate remains open to traffic. This incident remains an open investigation.”
