Fiona Armstrong will be castaway in the Desert Island Books event to be held at Broughton House in Kirkcudbright on February 12.
Organised by Stewartry Literary Society, Fiona will be asked which seven books she would like to take with her as she is cast away on a desert island. There will follow a discussion on how they have impacted on and reflect her life as a student, a broadcaster, a film maker, a writer and journalist, the wife of a Scottish clan chief, and proudly the Lord Lieutenant of Dumfries.
The event, which will take place at 2.30pm, will take the form of a triangulated conversation – castaway, host and listeners, sitting in a sympathetic and beautiful environment. They will engage in a no-holds-barred dialogue about how the guest of honour got to where she is, and what it’s like to live the life she has lived and now as Lady MacGregor of MacGregor. Fiona will illustrate her journey by reading a short extract from each of the books she has chosen.
Booking is essential for members and £7 for visitors. Tickets from [email protected] or telephone Pauline Brown: 01556 504862.
