Pepsi was invented on August 28, 1898, by a pharmacist named Caleb Bradham in New Bern, North Carolina, USA. Originally, it was known as “Brad’s Drink”, but it was renamed “Pepsi-Cola” in 1898.
Bradham marketed it as a refreshing drink that could aid digestion, with the name “Pepsi” likely derived from “dyspepsia,” a term for indigestion. But now, the company comes up with completely different ways to sell its drinks.
One of the best ways to build hype around the fizzy pop is to release plenty of different flavours. Customers often rush to try the limited edition drinks – from wild cherry to vanilla and mango.
But would you try this quirky variety of Pepsi that’s recently been spotted in Tesco supermarket? It’s certainly divided opinion online.
A post on the New Foods UK page said: “Brand new Strawberries & Cream Pepsi and the new Cream Soda Pepsi now available at Tesco! The Strawberries & Cream one is so good and is the better out of the 2 for sure! The Cream Soda one does have a vanilla taste but not the strongest at all.”
It’s safe to say the product has received a mixed response online. One gushed: “What! I need!” “Yummy.” Another said: “I need these now.” And a third added: “Cream soda one may be nice! “I need to try these out”
However, others did not seem as impressed. A foodie remarked: “Nope not for me.” Another simply said: “Yuck.” And a third added: “Not convinced on this one.”
