The latest episode of A Place in the Sun left viewers stunned as a couple searched for their dream holiday home on Gozo Island.
Presented by Ben Hillman, Tuesday’s (28 January) episode saw Nikki and Gordon browsing potential properties with their £350,000 budget in mind, hoping to find the perfect haven for themselves and their pet dogs.
As host Ben took the couple through various properties, some caught their eye, while others fell short. However, fans at home were struck by the prices of the properties, particularly given Nikki and Gordon’s substantial budget.
Several fans pointed out that their money wasn’t stretching as far as it would in other locations.
On social media one fan said: “#aplaceinthesun £400k for an APARTMENT Gozo. I’d want half the island for that,” and another wrote: “B****y hell I thought they’d get a mansion not an apartment for that money. #aplaceinthesun.”
A third viewer chimed in, saying: “Property 1 in #aplaceinthesun is like the first offer from the banker in #DealOrNoDeal. You just wouldn’t… B****y tiny for £360k, too!”
Another said: “With their budget I’d want a bloody swimming pool not a property that looks like a block of flats! #aplaceinthesun,” whilst a fifth fan added: “£360,000 doesn’t get you much in Gozo does it #aplaceinthesun.”
Nikki and Gordon couldn’t quite find their perfect holiday spot despite exploring several properties and showing initial enthusiasm. The episode concluded without a successful purchase on their part, reports the Mirror.
Host Ben highlighted the “gamble” the couple were taking, as they had never properly visited Gozo even though they intended to buy a property there.
The home audience sympathised with Ben’s point. One individual observed: ‘”Maybe we’ll become permanent residents’… bold statement when they’ve never even visited the place before. FFS #aplaceinthesun,” while someone else pondered: “Never been here before klaxon. Again. Happening all too regularly. Are #aplaceinthesun on the beg for potential buyers to feature…?”
