ALIAMANU, Hawaii (KHNL/Gray News) – One of the six patients hospitalized at a burn center in Arizona has died, officials said on Tuesday.
That raises the death toll in the New Year’s Eve fireworks explosion in Aliamanu, Hawaii to five.
According to Honolulu Police, the 29-year-old man died at about 6:40 a.m. HST.
The victim’s identity has not been released.
The six patients were flown to Arizona at the beginning of the month for extensive burn treatment and have been fighting for their lives since.
