A classic romantic-comedy that propelled Emma Stone to stardom in 2010 has landed on Amazon Prime Video.

Easy A, a wildly humorous and quotable high school film, has garnered a massive cult following 15 years after its release.

Now ranked alongside iconic teen comedies like Heathers and Mean Girls, many consider it the pinnacle high school comedy of the 2010s, with some arguing it remains unmatched to this day.

The film tells the story of Olive Penderghast (played by Stone), a 17-year-old high school student who becomes the subject of vicious rumours.

When she lies about losing her virginity to her best friend, Olive finds herself at the centre of attention, with boys lining up to be with her.

Fans say Emma Stone should have won her first Oscar for Easy A

This raunchy rom-com perfectly captures the chaos of high school, with a stellar supporting cast featuring Penn Badgley, Stanley Tucci, Lisa Kudrow and Amanda Bynes in her final film role.

Fans continue to hold Easy A in high regard, with one enthusiastic Google review from last year stating: “The movie was fantastic! Emma’s portrayal of the main character was not only charming and captivating but also brilliantly executed.

“The narrative itself took on a satirical tone, presenting a teenage tale that was laced with humour at every turn”, reports the Mirror.

“Emma’s performance truly carried the film, as her down-to-earth narration made it easy for me to empathise with her character.”

A glowing five-star review read: “Hard to put a review on the movie, obviously really enjoyed it but I think that’s an Emma Stone thing.

“Extremely difficult to dislike any movies she’s in. Always plays a loveable character that’s so easy to connect to and ride their emotions. Would 100% recommend to anyone.”

“Great film, funny and charming throughout,” another viewer penned. “Emma Stone is perfect. You can see her star potential for sure.

“Great modern update and it definitely works in today’s world. You will not be disappointed.”

Another fan on Reddit enthused: “It’s an absolute showstopping performance from Emma Stone in her first leading role.

“She totally makes the film, she takes a great part and wrings its neck. No-one who saw that film back in 2010 would have been surprised that she got a Best Actress Oscar before she was 30 and another one before she was 35.

“(She should have got one for Easy A, but Black Swan was an ‘art film’ and the Academy is always a sucker for art films.)”

Users on Letterboxd echoed these sentiments, with one reviewer stating: “Emma Stone has only given one Oscar worthy performance in her career and it wasn’t La La Land.”
