Vicky Pattison has opened up about her motivations behind participating in Channel 4’s new documentary, My Deepfake Sex Tape, and defended her choice to leak her own deepfaked sex tape. The ex-Geordie Shore star joined Lorraine Kelly for a chat about the series, which premieres tonight on Channel 4, and became emotional during the interview.
Lorraine noted that the documentary has “already caused a lot of controversy” with many people “judging” Vicky without having seen it. In response, Vicky said: “Let me just say, I completely understand that this has been a divisive way to go about sharing the information about fake AI and to try and spread awareness. We’ve been loud and we’ve been deliberate and I know that it has ruffled some feathers.
“Anybody who feels any type of way about it, I completely understand the feelings, that they’re valid and I’m not trying to trivialise them.”

She went on to reveal that last year saw more than double the number of deepfake porn videos online compared to 2022. “There’s over 300 of these new apps now – within a month of one of them launching, 600,000 nice normal women had their pictures deepfaked,” she disclosed.
Discussing the documentary which showcases a disturbingly deepfaked porn video of Vicky, Lorraine expressed her disgust, remarking: “The content, obviously we can’t show it. In the documentary, it’s blurred – but we are not just talking about somebody you see in the movies, people having sex in films, that happens a lot. This is really hardcore. It is ghastly.”
To this, Vicky responded, acknowledging the severity of the situation: “It’s, listen, the issue of consent, Lorraine, is not nothing new and you know that, and this, the issue of violence against women is nothing new, but this is the latest iteration in that wave of abuse and violence against women, and it’s terrifying.”
She further highlighted the extent of the violation, saying: “They are not only taking away a woman’s consent, a woman’s right – They are not only taking away a woman’s consent, a woman’s right to choose – what they’re creating in the most case is very degrading, it’s very violent, and it’s terrifying.”
Later in the conversation, an emotional Vicky contemplated the repercussions that deepfake pornography could have on future generations, particularly young girls. “The bit that always gets me is that I got married last year – Erc and I would love to try and start for a family. What world are we bringing little girls up in? ” she tearfully pondered.
“What are we teaching young lads? This problem, it is affecting women as we’ve seen the technology doesn’t even register a man’s body, but it is affecting girls as well. It’s affecting children.”
In her documentary, Vicky has taken the bold step of producing and directing scenes where her own face is digitally superimposed onto an actress’s body to highlight the chilling potential of deepfake technology. Despite her intentions, the move has sparked controversy among viewers, with one victim of porn abuse slamming it as “deeply disrespectful” and dismissing it as a mere “PR stunt”.
The TV star was reportedly left “upset” by such reactions.
A source disclosed to the Mirror “Vicky is upset about the response,” adding that her aim was to “She is trying to do good and raise awareness of a serious issue..”
Lorraine show airs weekdays from 9am on ITV and ITVX and Vicky Pattison: My Deepfake Sex Tape will be available to watch and stream on Channel 4 at 10pm on Tuesday, January 28.
