Staff at a hospitality group with four premises in Lanarkshire – plus another which is under refurbishment – are sharing nearly £125,000 in this year’s company profit scheme.
A total of 476 workers who have been with Manorview for at least 12 months learned that they would share £124,891 from this year’s Heartcount scheme at the company’s annual celebration for team members; with the funds being split based on hours worked over the year rather than being decided by job title or pay grade.
The company’s 12 venues throughout central Scotland include Cornhill Castle in Biggar, the Torrance Hotel in East Kilbride, the Commercial Hotel in Wishaw and Innishmohr in Coatbridge, as well as sister venues such as Boclair House in Bearsden and The Redhurst in Giffnock.
Manorview has run the scheme to share 10 per cent of its net profits with workers since 2017, and say: “Regardless of whether someone is a director, housekeeper, manager, chef or kitchen porter, they get the same amount for the same hours.”
This year’s amount, to be paid to qualifying staff next month, was announced at the celebration event at Glasgow venue SWG3, which was hosted by Lanarkshire star Edward Reid and featured dancers, roller-skaters, a magician and a huge game of “boozé bingo” hosted by radio DJ Stevie Lennon.
Head of people Dani Fraser said: “We are very proud of our profit share scheme – everyone, regardless of role, makes a positive contribution to Manorview and it’s only right that they then receive something in return.
“Fairness is the heart of so many of our decisions, and it’s not just senior or sales team who make things happen here, which is why we structure Heartcount in the way we do.”
Brand director Kirstin Watson added of the celebration event: “It was fantastic to get the team together to show our thanks and appreciation, and the energy in the room was just brilliant. We’re on a journey to make life better through hospitality.
“It’s very uncommon for businesses, especially in the hospitality sector, to share profits with their team – but we’re determined not only to look after people but show that hospitality can be a fantastic and rewarding career in many ways.”
The event also included an update for staff on plans for the company’s registered charity, Manorview Foundation, during the year ahead.
Manorview unveiled proposals last month for their refurbishment of the Bothwell Bridge hotel – including the addition of 70 bedrooms and grand suites, a 175-seat restaurant, “luxurious and serene” spa and a rooftop hydrotherapy pool.
They expect to create 150-200 jobs through the project, which is due to get underway this year subject to planning permission being granted by South Lanarkshire Council and with the owners “committed to opening the venue as soon as feasible”.
