The Paul brothers, Logan and Jake, have announced they will fight each other on March 27, but the news has been met with scepticism by fans who are accusing them of “trolling“.
The duo surprised their followers on Tuesday when they revealed the upcoming bout, set to be aired on HBO Max, sharing a photo of themselves squaring off.
Both took to social media to post: “The moment you’ve waited a decade for… March 27th on @StreamOnMax,” reports the Mirror.
Despite previous rumours that Logan might take on Conor McGregor, it’s been suggested that UFC boss Dana White put a stop to any such plans.
Fans have reacted to the announcement on X, previously Twitter, with comments ranging from “Stop trolling” to “Is this a joke??”
Although there has long been talk of the Paul siblings fighting, some boxing enthusiasts mocked the announcement, with one saying: “Absolutely no one has been waiting for this.”
Doubts over the legitimacy of the fight were also raised, with one fan pointing out Logan’s Netflix ties and questioning the choice of HBO Max for the event, calling it a possible ruse.
While there was anticipation for a potential clash between McGregor and one of the Pauls, the Daily Mail reports that White blocked the match due to his disdain for Jake Paul and his reluctance to see them profit from it.
A source allegedly claimed “Dana White hates Jake Paul,” adding that there’s a “there is a constant tumultuous attitude towards each other, and they have a never-ending feud because Jake continues to call out Dana on how he treats his fighters and how they get paid.”
They went on: He would have potentially considered it to be done if it wasn’t Logan, but Dana’s hate for Jake is the fuel that was needed to instantly say no.”
The source also mentioned that “Dana doesn’t want the Paul brothers to benefit financially ever if it takes away from his own bottom line. The feud runs deep and will remain petty. It will be a cold day in hell before Dana and the Paul brothers are on the same page.”
Reacting to these allegations, Jake Paul took to social media, sharing a screenshot of the report and commenting: “Dana White didn’t let Conor fight Logan bc of his hatred for me? Haha. I hope this is bs. Can’t be that petty, can he?”
