Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been embroiled in divorce rumours for many months but a source has now claimed that the former Suits actress can’t leave their relationship even if she wanted to.
A source told Page Six that the former royal couple knows a separation wouldn’t work because “their value is in being a couple”.
It comes amid claims that Meghan had been eyeing up a potential post-Harry divorce book after an article published in Vanity Fair last week alleged that the duchess’ team had quietly held talks with an unnamed publishing house to “gauge interest” in the idea for the book.
However, the Page Six insider, who is said to have worked closely with the Sussexes said: “Meghan and Harry know that they are tied together, their value is in being a couple — even if they wanted to split, they couldn’t. And honestly, they are obsessed with each other. They are just two narcissists.”

Another source familiar with the original $US20 million Penguin Random House deal that Harry and Meghan signed in 2021 said they had never heard anything about a divorce book.
However, it does seem that their original deal, which was believed to include books on “leadership” and “wellness”, seems to have quietly vanished after Harry’s release of his best-selling memoir Spare in 2023.
The publishing insider echoed: “They are worth more together. t doesn’t benefit them to be apart — they have all their deals together.
“I think the Random House deal is much like the Netflix deal: Netflix just said ‘Yes’ to everything because they wanted to get the docu-series [ Harry & Meghan ]. So they said, ‘OK, we’ll take the ‘Polo’ show’ and let’s see what happens with Meghan’s lifestyle show.”
Meanwhile, Vanity Fair’s source reportedly clarified that the so-called “divorce” book was supposed to be about the aftermath of a split from Harry, and not Meghan’s breakdown of her first marriage to Trevor Engleson, who she divorced in 2014.
Page Six reports that the former Suits actress does not like to discuss her first husband. Vanity Fair’s report noted that the book meeting did not confirm the Sussexes’ were splitting but was intended to see if the publisher would “theoretically be interested” should a divorce ever come to fruition.
According to glossy, the publisher never made an offer and no manuscript was offered because there was no divorce to write about.
Page Six also claims there was originally talk of the Duke of Sussex splitting his memoir into two parts before he decided to keep it to one book. Spare is now the fastest-selling non fiction book of all time, having sold more than 6 million copies worldwide.
Meanwhile, Meghan has only released a children’s book so far. Page Six reports that there is also plans for a potential wellness book from the mum-of-two.
The duke publicly addressed divorce speculation at the New York Times’ 2024 DealBook Summit last December, saying: “Apparently we’ve bought or moved house 10, 12 times. We’ve apparently divorced maybe 10, 12 times as well. So it’s just like, what?’”
