A man freed from prison after being convicted for his part in the Jan.6 attack on the U.S. Capitol is reportedly wanted for soliciting a Texas minor for sex.
Andrew Taake, 36, was serving a 6-year sentence in a Colorado prison when President Donald Trump pardoned him and 1,500 other MAGA supporters for seizing the Capitol in protest of his 2020 election defeat. Taake, who’d admitted to assaulting officers with bear spray and a metal whip, was turned loose Jan. 20, according to the Houston Chronicle.
The case against Taake is from 2016, but was still pending when he pleaded guilty in 2023 to committing violent crimes on Capitol Hill.
Harris County District Attorney Sean Teare told Houston Public Media his office asked federal authorities in Colorado to detain Taake due to his warrant in Texas, but that didn’t happen. He said tracking down Taake now “will require significant resources.”
Authorities claim the suspect pursued a sexual relationship with an individual he knew to be younger than 17.
Taake isn’t the only Jan. 6 figure to find trouble waiting after being excused for actions on Jan. 6.
Florida man Daniel Charles Ball was picked up on gun charges just a day after being set free from a Washington D.C. jail, according to Spectrum Bay News 9 in Tampa, and reportedly had previous brushes with the law.
Indiana man Matthew Huttle, 42, was fatally shot by police during a traffic stop Sunday only days after he’d been given a pass by Trump for a Jan. 6 misdemeanor offense.
“During the traffic stop, the officer attempted to arrest the suspect when the suspect resisted,” Indiana State Police said in a statement. “An altercation took place between the suspect and the officer, which resulted in the officer firing his weapon and fatally wounding the suspect.”
Cops said the suspect was also armed.
