A recently pardoned Jan. 6 Capitol rioter was fatally shot by an Indiana deputy during a traffic stop this week.

Matthew Huttle, 42, was pulled over Sunday afternoon by an officer with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office around 4:15 p.m., the Indiana State Police said.

The officer attempted to arrest him, but Huttle — who also had a firearm — was fatally shot in an altercation while resisting arrest, officials said.

An investigation into the shooting is ongoing. No other details were released.

“For full transparency, I requested the Indiana State Police to investigate this officer involved shooting,” Jasper County Sheriff Patrick Williamson said in a news release. “The officer that is involved has been placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard protocol and is our policy in these situations. Our condolences go out to the family of the deceased as any loss of life is traumatic to those that were close to Mr. Huttle. I will release the officer’s name once I have approval from the State Police Detectives.”

Huttle previously pleaded guilty to entering a restricted building at the U.S. Capitol during the Jan. 6, 2021 riot, but then was among the more than 1,500 defendants pardoned shortly after President Trump’s inauguration last week.

His uncle, Dale Huddle, was also arrested for his involvement.

Law enforcement is also looking for 36-year-old Andrew Taake, another recently pardoned Jan. 6 convict, in relation to a 2016 case in Texas involving solicitation of a minor. The case was still pending when Taake pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to Jan. 6. Taake was released from a Colorado prison last week.

Daniel Charles Ball was picked up on gun charges days after leaving a Washington D.C. jail, according to Spectrum Bay News 9 in Tampa.
