Defender Nikola Katic has reportedly “received an offer” from Rangers as he pushes for an FC Zurich exit.
Philippe Clement has brought in Portuguese defender Rafael Fernandes so far this month – with the Lille loanee and Robin Propper the only two first-team centre-backs are available for the Belgian boss amid an injury crisis. Leon Balogun, John Souttar, Dujon Sterling and Neraysho Kasanwirjo are all sideline leading to Clinton Nsiala and Leon King being promoted from the B team in recent weeks.
Record Sport previously revealed that the Bosnian is ready to leave Zurich and was keen on a return to Glasgow while sporting director Milos Malenovic admitted the path was clear for the 28-year-old to make his dream move. However, boss Ricardo Moniz warned Katic he risks ending up in a “difficult situation” after being left out of matchday squads in a bid to facilitate a move – while no offers have arrived.
Swiss outlet Watson now claim Katic has received an offer from Rangers as he enters the final 18 months of his contract. And former Switzerland international turned pundit Pascal Zuberbühler insists that if a deal isn’t struck he must be put back into the Moniz’s plans.
He told Blue Sport: “Katic is on the payroll at FC Zurich. Do they have a firm offer? The player belongs to FC Zurich. As a sporting director or president, I want to see from a club that we want Mirlind Kryeziu, we want Nikola Katic – for this and this price.”
