Craig Moore can understand why Chelsea would be keen on Jefte – as he named FOUR qualities that stand out in his game..
The English Premier League giants are among a number of clubs to contact the agents of the Rangers defender and express an interest. Reports in Brazil had claimed the Londoners were ready to open talks over the former Fluminese man – but Record Sport exclusively told you that so far no direct contact has taken place with the Stamford Bridge outfit.
The Blues are leading a string of suitors from both south of the border and across Europe – who are keeping a close eye on the left-back. Any kind of departure would see his former club land a 20 per cent slice of the transfer fee which was included in the £700,000 deal last summer to bring him to Glasgow.
Moore – who played for Rangers during his career – reckons there is one key area of his game he needs to improve but the pros eliminate the cons as he named the key attributes that would have big guns like Chelsea watching – but any move would be a HUGE step up for the Ibrox star.
Speaking on Go Radio, he said: “Jefte has come in and I know he has taken a little bit of stick at times for not defending well enough, young player but he is 21 and not 18. That is an area of his game, certainly at that next level, Premier League level that he needs to be better. But I can understand why – I don’t know if it is genuine – but I can understand why there would be interest in Jefte.
“He’s come in and done a decent job. He looks as if he is willing to learn, shows a good attitude and covers the whole left side and is of a decent age. Chelsea would be a huge step up.”
