THE COLONY, Texas — Officials rescued 88 live animals and recovered 22 deceased animals from a property in The Colony, officials said.
The Colony Police Department and Animal Services officials responded to reports of dozens of animals living in concerning conditions at a property located in the 4800 block of Alta Oaks Lane, officials said in a press release.
Twenty-four dogs, 45 cats, 12 reptiles and seven mice were rescued from the property, the release states. The recovered animals are receiving veterinary evaluations and medical care, according to the release.
The number of animals recovered exceeds the capacity of The Colony Animal Services, so officials are working with other boarding facilities to provide temporary housing and care, officials said.
Police are investigating the incident and will provide more details when they are available, the release states.
