A company is seeking permission from North Lanarkshire Council to expand the parking facilities at a Bellshill hotel by adding charging bays for electric vehicles.

Ionity, which is headquartered in Germany and operates a charging network spanning 24 countries, has proposed the addition of 24 EV charging bays and associated works at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Phoenix Crescent within Strathclyde Business Park.

The proposal would increase the total parking available at the hotel to 64 spaces as the existing 40 for conventional vehicles would be retained.

This development would impact several trees at the site, although surveys do not class any of them as being of high value and the applicant has also proposed the environmental effect could be offset with new planting.
