Drivers in Glasgow will be fined £100 if they park on pavements in the city as legislation comes into force today.
The new rules have been brought in to protect pedestrians, in particular pram and wheelchair users who could be forced onto the road by parked motors.
Drivers will be issued warning notices in the initial period as they adjust to the changes which will occur on most streets from January 29.
Existing legislation on pavement parking allows exceptions for emergency service vehicles, medical emergencies and assistance, accident or breakdowns, waste collections, postal services or loading vehicles with a maximum of 20 minutes.
Legislation was given ministerial approval in December 2023 which meant all councils could enforce the ban.
All parking fines in Glasgow are £100 but reduced to £50 if drivers pay up within 14 days.
Edinburgh was the first city in Scotland to enforce a ban on pavement parking in January 2024.
Highland Council followed suit in February.
Glasgow City Council had previously said IT issues had delayed a roll-out of the ban.
An online map is available on the council website showing where there is no exemption and any streets which need further assessment.
