A Dumfries Spa hotel is celebrating its place in the final of Scotland’s Golf Tourism Awards by staging its first two day competition later this year.

The Cairndale Cup 4BBB Stableford event will be held at Dumfries and County Golf Club from Sunday, July 13 to Tuesday, July 15 with competitors staying at the town centre hotel and enjoying meals there.

A practice day on the 5,925 yard course on the Sunday will be followed by the competition on Monday and Tuesday with a gala dinner and prizegiving that night. Awards will be presented by club professional James Erskine. Covering 88 acres, the D&C course was designed by British Open Champions Willie Fernie and James Braid.

The Cairndale Hotel and Spa is one of four finalists in the Best Premium Hotel category of the Scottish Golf Tourism Awards, to be announced at the P & J Live arena in Aberdeen on March 20.

Its £2m adults-only Spa was opened last Summer. The 87 bedroom hotel books some 3,000 rounds on local courses a year.

Golf Co-ordinator Claire Scott commented: “We’re delighted to have been named as one of the finest golf hotels and experiences in Scotland and look forward to showcasing the facilities and food to competitors taking part in the first Cairndale Cup.”

Places in the event are £449 per person (based on two sharing) including dinner, bed and breakfast, with welcome drinks on Sunday night, a practice day, two competition days and a Prize Giving Gala Dinner on the Tuesday.
