Stafford McDowall will start Scotland’s opening Six Nations match against Italy on Saturday.
The Dundrennan centre, who plays his club rugby for Glasgow Warriors, has been named in Gregor Townsend’s 15 for the clash at Scottish Gas Murrayfield.
The 26-year-old, who currently has eight caps, was co-captain when Scotland beat Canada during last year’s summer tour.
