A bombshell report has claimed Arsenal will BLOCK Kieran Tierney the chance to return to Celtic this month.

Record Sport revealed the Premiership champions were pushing to close the deal before Brendan Rodgers confirmed in the build up to the Champions League clash with Aston Villa on Wednesday night. He told the gathered media that the Hoops diehard had agreed a pre-contract to return to his boyhood club. The big news spread like wildfire with the Parkhead faithful buzzing fresh off the back of Jota’s return to Glasgow.

However, The Telegraph are now reporting that Mikel Arteta will be keeping the Scotland international in his squad until the summer as he looks to close the gap on league leaders Liverpool while also competing in the Champions League knockout stages. The likes of Riccardo Califiori and Myles Lewis-Skelly can play at left-back but Tierney offers versatility by being able to operate in the middle of the backline or higher up on the wing. Oleksandr Zinchenko is another option but he could be sold before Monday’s deadline.

The same report states Tierney rejected the chance of a move abroad or staying in England’s top flight in favour of Celtic. They state Bayer Leverkusen, Sevilla, Juventus and Everton were all keen on his services in the summer when his deal expired.

It is claimed his return to Celtic will be on a four-year deal starting from his summer arrival. But any hopes of a return this month are seemingly over and that could force Rodgers to move to plan B in his left-back pursuit until then.
