A new personal fitness studio could be coming to Ayr.
Ayrshire Live can reveal that a planning application has been lodged, seeking permission for a change of use to a unit in Whitfield Drive.
Behind the proposal is Daniel McLeod, of ELYSI Personal Training Studio, who said in a supporting statement: “I am proposing a change of use for the unit at 35 Whitfield Drive, Ayr, to operate as a Personal Training Studio.
“This change would allow us to expand our business, offering personalised fitness services to the local community.
“The unit is currently vacant, and this proposal provides a practical and effective solution to prevent the building from remaining unused, while also meeting the needs of my growing client base.
“There will be no structural alterations to the building, only modernisations to the interior to suit the operational requirements of a personal training facility.”
He added: “We currently operate a small personal training studio in the area, and expanding to this new location will provide us with the necessary space to grow while ensuring minimal impact on the surrounding environment.
“Our business is built on a one-on-one and does cater coaching sessions for up to 10 people, a highly individualised training model, which ensures limited noise and disruption.”
ELYSI Personal Training Studio will offer one-on-one and small group fitness coaching, with a focus on “health, wellbeing, and personalised training plans.”
Sessions will be highly tailored to each individual, with a maximum of 10 clients per session, depending on their preferences.
According to the supporting statement this personal approach ensures “minimal noise and disruption,” as each session is structured to engage with clients “directly.”
Mr McLeod added: “Our vision is to foster health and wellbeing within the community by providing a safe, supportive environment for fitness.
“The services offered will particularly focus on promoting mental health, social inclusion, and combating rising health concerns, such as obesity and anxiety.
“We are committed to making a positive impact on our clients’ physical and mental health, with a focus on building confidence and achieving personal fitness goals.”
The applicant has been actively seeking an appropriate premises for his personal training studio for the past 12 months, with the goal of upgrading his existing business within University of the West of Scotland and expanding his small group fitness training services.
The proposals are listed as ‘pending consideration’ on South Ayrshire Council’s online planning portal and a decision is expected in March.
