An argument with his fiancée over a jacket reportedly led to the suicide of singer Ryan Whyte Maloney.
“The Voice” alum fatally shot himself after getting into it with his partner in Las Vegas, TMZ reported Thursday, citing a police report.
Maloney was “apparently drunk” when the couple left the New York-New York Hotel and Casino early Tuesday morning. His fiancée, whose name was not disclosed, told police that while driving home, she questioned Maloney about the whereabouts of her jacket.
The 44-year-old crooner allegedly got pissed off and called her a “bitch” before grabbing a handgun from the glove compartment and hopping out of the car.
Maloney reportedly fired a gunshot and took off on foot. As his fiancée chased after him, she heard a second shot, then watched his body fall to the ground.
Maloney was pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound to the head, according to the Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner. His death was ruled a suicide.
Maloney competed on Season 6 of “The Voice” in 2014, singing “Lights” by Journey during the blind auditions. His stirring performance led all four judges to turn their chairs.
The Michigan native ultimately chose country star Blake Shelton to coach him for the remainder of the competition, where he made the Top 5. He was among the singers who performed at Shelton’s Ole Red Las Vegas bar opening last year.
