A British dad has disappeared after travelling to Thailand nearly two weeks ago. James Sangwine, 33, flew to the Thai capital Bangkok for a holiday on January 18, having told his partner he was going to visit a friend who had moved there.
However, his girlfriend Katie, 38, has not heard from him since she received a message from him on January 20, telling her he was going to a bar to meet friends. She became concerned when he did not call on his seven-year-old son’s birthday the following day, or fly home when he was expected to on January 24.
The couple, from Epping, Essex, had exchanged messages on January 20, but Katie says his phone seems to have been switched off since then, and no other family members have heard from him reports the Mirror.
However, two locals he met have contacted her, sharing that he had last been seen out with friends at the Abandoned Mansion Bar and Restaurant.

She said: “On Monday 20th, he sent me a little photo from where he was staying, and told me he was meeting some friends at a bar.
“He told me about it, saying it was a nice little place – and that was the last time we spoke. While he was at the bar, early in the evening his time, he tried to call me. But I was asleep – it was 11pm for me. He hasn’t rung since – it’s not going through, like it’s off.”
Worried Katie has reported James as missing to the Royal Thai Police (RTP), but is concerned no investigation is being carried out after not receiving any new information from them.
She added: “Even if James has passed away – we still need to know, so we can have his body back and give him a funeral. Someone must know where he is, or what has happened to him.
The Mirror has contacted the British Embassy in Bangkok for comment.
