With Valentine’s Day on the horizon, many are contemplating popping the question to their significant others.
And one man has demonstrated that you don’t need to splash out when proposing – he spent just £1 on the engagement ring.
Henry asked his partner Ellenor to marry him on Budleigh Salterton beach in South Devon with a silver ring from Poundland. Fortunately for him, she accepted!
The couple’s engagement was announced on Poundland’s Instagram account, where Henry was pictured on bended knee proposing to Eleanor.
The pair were seen beaming as they held hands against the backdrop of the sea. An inset photo showed the ring, a silver band with a red gemstone in a red velvet box.
The post read: “They knew at first sight. A huge congratulations to Ellenor and Henry on their beautiful engagement at Budleigh Saltertonbeach!”
Ellenor said: “We always said we’d save the money for the wedding, so I thought he was joking when he gave me a Poundland ring!”
The proposal was well-received, garnering hundreds of likes. Many extended their congratulations to the couple, while one user tagged their friends in the post, commenting: “No excuse now.”
