Two rural Stirling former churches are on the market in hope of bringing the buildings back to use.
Kincardine-in-Menteith Church in Blairdrummond is up for sale with a price tag of offers over £60,000.
Meanwhile, bidders are being invited to vie for Kilmadock Church in Doune in an online auction scheduled for next Thursday, February 6, with opening bids set at the same sum – £60,000.
A-listed Kincardine-in-Menteith Church dates back to 1816 and is said to feature “stunning stained-glass windows and a timbered ceiling” and the sale includes some grounds.
In documents, the Church of Scotland outlines information about the building, saying: “The property comprises front entrance area, large open plan church hall, with a rear preparation and WC facilities.
“The properties lying behind the church use the access roadway. The property is connected to a mains supplies of water and electricity.
“The A-listed building could be used, without the necessity of obtaining change of use consent, as a crèche, day nursery, day centre, educational establishment, museum, art gallery or public library. It also has potential for a variety of other uses, such as a theatre, cinema or entertainment venue, retail space or community resource subject to obtaining appropriate consents.
“The church is located in close proximity to Blair Drummond Safari Park, which attracts significant tourist traffic to the area. It is also adjacent to Kincardine-in-Menteith Primary School and the A84 which acts as one of the main routes to the north west and also links to the M80.
“It is possible that a closing date for offers will be fixed and, to ensure that they receive intimation of this, prospective purchasers must formally intimate their interest, via a Scottish solicitor, in writing or by email with the Law Department. As offers will require to be considered by one or more Church committees, they should not be subject to short time limits for acceptance.
“The sellers do not bind themselves to accept the highest or any of the offers they receive.”
Kilmadock Church meanwhile goes to online auction on February 6 between 10am and 3pm.
Its particulars on the Future Property Auctions site state it as a “potential development opportunity”, adding: “Stunning former church with potential to convert into a four bedroom house. Unique lot would suit shrewd investor / builder looking for development project.
“Huge business potential for potential serviced accommodation, holiday letting. Commercial premises, may include offices, art gallery etc (all subject to planning / licensing).”
