WASHINGTON (Gray News) – Several FBI executives were ordered to retire or resign, according to several reports.
The officials were told Thursday to retire or resign, or else they would be fired, according to reports from the Associated Press and CNN.
The leaders have until Monday to make their decision, according to CNN’s report.
CNN’s report, which cited a source “briefed on the matter,” said at least six officials at the executive assistant director level or special agent in charge level were impacted. Those included oversaw cyber, national security and criminal investigations.
The senior officials were promoted by former FBI Director Christopher Wray. Wray resigned from his position at the end of former President Joe Biden’s term following seven years as director.

A pattern of outings has been seen among federal government agencies. Last week the Justice Department fired several prosecutors who were on special counsel Jack Smith’s team who investigated Trump. And on Friday, it was announced the Trump administration was moving to fire FBI agents engaged in investigations involving Trump.
