Game On!

Got two minutes? Well that’s all you’ll need for Record Sport’s newly-launched podcast which will see the expert panel discuss all the big issues in Scottish sport and beyond – in handy bitesize chunks.

We will debate all the major global sporting topics in a fast-paced manner as the team gets their points across before the whistle blows. The handy segments of the show mean there’s no waffling on, we get straight to the point and you can get your fix in a quick and easy manner.

The opinionated duo of Michael Gannon and Gavin Berry have kicked off the show, which will air every Friday, but other members of the Record Sport team will frequently take their seat behind the microphone in the Record Sport studio.

In this week’s episode which is available now on Youtube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts, the guys discuss a range of topics from the Super Bowl to Steven Gerrard and the Six Nations to Celtic’s Champions League draw against Bayern Munich.

Is a return to Celtic the right move for Kieran Tierney?

MG: I still think there’s a chance Kieran Tierney could be on board at Celtic this month. A slim chance. A lot can happen in the last few days of the window – it gets a bit crazy – so I wouldn’t write it off completely just yet. It’s a great move for Celtic.

GB: Is it a great move for HIM, I’m asking you.

MG: I was just getting there. I was teeing myself up. He’s a hometown hero, he loves the club and he’s not financially motivated.

He’s always wanted to come back to his boyhood club. If I was his accountant I’d be asking him to do another two years in England because he’s a top class player when he’s fit – and he still plays 30-odd games a season.

GB: Is it a lack of ambition?

MG: What is ambition? He’s got plenty of money.

Will Rangers win the Europa League?

GB: Why not? Let’s start with Philippe Clement. I don’t think any of us – Rangers fans included – expected him to be in charge now. He was on a 90-minute rolling contract. He’s taken the stick so you have to praise him for the way he’s turned it around.

MG: He’s had half a team missing.

GB: To get into the last 16 via a top eight finish is a remarkable achievement. And when you look at the teams they could face – Bodo/Glimt, Anderlecht, Twente or Fenerbahce it’s a toss of a coin.

MG: You would fancy them at Ibrox against any of them.

GB: Rangers fans were coming out of the game saying ‘Where’s the final?’ so that’s when you know it’s getting serious!
