Homes in Glasgow’s southside have been left without water, with multiple people reporting issues.

Those in Glasgow’s G41, G42, G43 and G44 postcodes have been facing an “interruption” to their water supply on Saturday, February 1. Scottish Water confirmed there is a problem but were unclear as to what has happened as engineers were “on the way to investigate”.

Apologising for the incident on Scottish Water’s X, formerly Twitter account, Scottish Water stated: “We have identified a fault on our network and are in the process of arranging a repair.”

However, social media users are reporting a burst main on Pollokshaws Road, which could be why locals have been left without water as the busy road is flooded. James Beale took to X to inform Scottish Water that there was a: “Major burst water main at the Eglinton Toll bus stop in Glasgow. (Pollockshaws road). Shops are being flooded.”

Helena Evans tweeted “@ScottishWater no water running in G41 Glasgow – we are trying to call you.” Aidy complained: “Is there a particular reason you are unable to provide water to the south of Glasgow @scottish_water? That’s twice in a couple of months I’ve had no supply and you have the audacity to charge us through our council tax.”

A post on Scottish Water’s website reads: “Customers in Glasgow post code areas G41, G42, G43 and G44 have reported an interruption to their water supply. We are currently on the way to investigate the issue and are aiming to be on site as soon as possible.”

A spokesperson added on social media: “We are investigating reports of supply issues and will update our channels as soon as more info is available. Apologies for any inconvenience caused by this.”

Pollokshaws Road is closed from Albert Drive to Cumberland Street and buses are being diverted while teams work to resolve the matter.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Pollokshaws Road is closed from Albert Drive to Cumberland Street following a report of a burst water main that happened around 4.30pm on Saturday, February 1.

“A number of other streets are affected including Cumberland Street which is closed at the junction with Eglington Street, Turiff Street at Pollokshaws Road, Eglington Street at Devon Street and Pollokshaws Road at Maxwell Drive.

“Buses are being diverted away from Pollokshaws Road to Victoria Road and Cathcart Road. Other local diversions are in place. Road users and the public are advised to avoid the area.”
