A teenager died at a popular go-karting attraction on Friday night.
The circumstances surrounding the tragedy are currently unknown, although police have confirmed it is “not suspicious”.
Staffordshire Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service had been called to TeamSport Go Karting Stoke in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent around 8.15pm where a boy had been found unresponsive. Despite efforts by the paramedics at the scene of the incident, he later died.
Officers remained at the popular attraction, which is said to be open today as normal, until the early hours of the morning, StokeonLive reported.
A police spokesman said: “We were called to TeamSport Go Karting Stoke following reports of a cardiac arrest. Paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service were already there and found a man in his late teens unresponsive at the scene. Sadly, he was later pronounced dead.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for HM Coroner. Our thoughts remain with the man’s family at this difficult time.”
TeamSport Go Karting Stoke told StokeLive: “We are not making any comment at all.”
One person said online: “So sad, sending love to the family and shame on the go-karting. You could have shut the place today to show your respect to the family and the person who is has passed away, but, no you choose to open.
“Seriously some people have no heart at all, me I would shut it all weekend.”
Another added: “So sad, rip, condolences to the family.”
