Celtic are lining up a bid for Sevilla’s Kelechi Iheanacho as Brendan Rodgers eyes a reunion with the ex Leicester City £25million man.

The Scottish Premiership champions are desperately looking for a replacement for Kyogo, sold to Rennes for £10m, and Nigeria hitman Iheanacho is subject of a bid from the Hoops, according to the Scottish Sun. It would be an initial six-month loan with an option to buy.

Rodgers worked with the player, who made the move to the King Power Stadium for big bucks after making his name at Manchester City, during his time in charge at the Foxes. He left the Midlands club last year to join the La Liga side. He also played with Celtic keeper Kasper Schmeichel at Leicester City.

Iheanacho has been capped 57 times for the Super Eagles but is still only 28-years-old and would provide competition for Adam Idah if a deal can be struck with the Spaniards. The report states that Middlesbrough are also interested but claim the player is open to working under Rodgers again.

Record Sport revealed Celtic are also considering a bid for Slovakian striker David Strelec from Slovan Bratislava with the Hoops also linked with Brondby’s Mathias Kvistgaarden. They desperately need to land a frontman before the transfer window closes with a Champions League play-off knockout against Bayern Munich next month and a domestic Treble bid.
