A 27-year-old man has been arrested after a car failed to stop for police before crashing into another vehicle.

The Peugeot 3008 failed to stop for police on Kyle Street at around 11.55am on Friday, January 31.

It then travelled along Dobbies Loan towards Milton Street where it slammed into a Mercedes A180.

Emergency services were called to the scene and the 27-year-old driver of the Peugeot was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

He was released and subsequently arrested in connection with road traffic offences police confirmed.

The 25-year-old passenger was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

The driver of the Mercedes was uninjured during the incident.

Police are now appealing for information following the crash and are asking for any witnesses to come forward.

Sergeant Nick Twigg of Glasgow Road Policing said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash get in touch.

“I would also appeal to anyone who may have dash-cam or private CCTV footage that could assist to contact us.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101 quoting incident number 1226 of Friday, January 31.

Milton Street was closed for more than 10 hours yesterday while investigations were carried out.

It reopened at around 10.20pm.
