Peter Wright is out of the Winmau World Darts Masters after being sunk by Stephen Bunting.
The Scottish star tumbled out at the last 16 stage having failed to take chances in the tight contest leaving Cameron Menzies as the last remaining Tartan hope. Wright was aiming to triumph in the first ranking event of the regular 2025 campaign. But Bunting had too much as he maintained his own hot start to the term and punished Snakebite for missed opportunities.
The victor said: “Obviously, I am happy. Unfortunately, I didn’t play my best game, but it’s about getting over the line.. Me and Peter go back a long way and I know his game inside-out and he knows mine.
“He wasn’t on his game as I wasn’t on mine. It probably made me a lot more nervous than I was, but I take the positives. I can now go into tomorrow really fresh and drive for this win. I feel the vibe going onto the stage.”
