A pedestrian who was hit by a coach has reportedly been left with an ankle injury, according to a bus firm.

The 28-year-old man was trapped under the Xplore Dundee vehicle at the top of John Finnie Street after he was hit by the bus just after 5pm.

Police confirmed that the man was taken to Crosshouse Hospital following the crash that closed the major street for 90 minutes – the condition of the man was not disclosed by Police Scotland

However, bosses at McGill’s Buses, who run Xplore Dundee, say the stricken man has been left with what’s ‘believed to be an ankle injury’.

A spokesperson for Xplore Dundee said: “We can confirm one of our vehicles was involved in an incident involving a pedestrian in Kilmarnock around 5pm on Saturday evening.

“Police and other emergency services attended the incident, and one person was taken to hospital for treatment for what was believed to be an ankle injury.”

The Scottish Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
