A man has been taken to hospital after he was trapped under a bus following a crash in Kilmarnock last night.
The 28-year-old was struck by the coach at the top off John Finnie Street near the town’s train station.
Police have confirmed today that the man was taken to Crosshouse Hospital. However, the extent of the injuries sustained by the pedestrian involved has not been disclosed by officials at this stage.
The town centre was locked down by police for around 90 minutes as emergency services descended on John Finnie Street just after 5pm.
The entire stretch of the town’s busiest road was cordoned off by officers with a bus inside the exclusion zone and Scottish Fire and Rescue crews also at the scene that also extended to Langlands Brae/West Langlands Street and West George Street.
Police have confirmed today the road reopened to traffic at around 6.30pm.
The coach involved in the incident is an Xplore Dundee bus – run by McGill’s Buses.
It’s understood the vehicle was in the town yesterday as Kilmarnock hosted Dundee United at Rugby Park.
