Motherwell are investigating an incident of racist abuse towards one of their players on social media during their 3-1 Premiership defeat at home to Celtic.

The club say they will work with authorities to identify the individual.

A statement issued by the club read: “The club is aware of the racist abuse towards a Motherwell player on social media this afternoon.

“We will investigate this fully and will work with authorities to identify the individual.

“Motherwell Football Club condemns any form or racist abuse towards anyone. This kind of behaviour has no place in football or society.”
