A suspect on trial for murdering a woman has admitted killing her, writes Grant McCabe.
Michelle Ramage had been accused along with her then partner Jason Bell, 51, and Ryan Hill, 27, of attacking 41 year-old Susan Turner at a flat in Ayr on March 25 and 26, 2023.
On Friday, the 43 year-old’s KC Tony Lenehan told jurors at the High Court in Glasgow that she was now pleading guilty to the murder charge.
Prosecutor Chris McKenna then stated: “The Crown accepts that plea and moves for sentence in relation to Michelle Ramage.”
The sentencing of Ramage was initially adjourned until next week.
Bell and Hill remain on trial also charged with involvement in Miss Turner’s murder.
Lord Mulholland today/yesterday said to the jury: “The fact she had pleaded guilty to the charge of murder and it having been accepted has no bearing whatsoever in relation to the case of anyone else – in particular the two accused.
“Her admission of guilt in respect of the charge is not evidence against any of the other accused.”
The trial was adjourned until Monday with no further evidence heard today/yesterday.
The murder charge includes claims Miss Turner was punched, kicked, had her hair pulled out and a cord tightened around her neck.
It is further alleged she had clothes removed, struck and stabbed with scissors as well as being hit with mugs, a machete, a bat, a golf club, chain and radio.
The murder is said to have occurred at Bell’s home in Nursery Hall in Ayr.
Miss Turner lived near to him at the time.
The trial continues.
