Cody DeLisa, 28, was shot and killed on Aug. 13, 2020, after his girlfriend met a man on a bus on her way home from a job interview.

BRIGHTON, Colo. — On Tuesday, the district attorney for Adams County announced the conviction of a woman following a three-week trial for the 2020 death of her boyfriend.

Ashley White, 29, was found guilty of:

  • Second degree-murder
  • Conspiracy to commit second-degree murder
  • Robbery

According to the district attorney, in the months leading up to the murder of Cody DeLisa, 28, White and DeLisa had a “volatile and strained” relationship.

On Aug. 13, 2020, White attended a job interview in Denver, according to the district attorney. A neighbor drove her to the interview, but she returned home by bus. She texted DeLisa about her experience and during the exchange, DeLisa expressed skepticism about the chances of White getting the job, which upset White, according to a media release from the district attorney’s office.

While White was on the bus going home, she met a man who introduced himself as “Scott,” the media release says. Scott asked if she was in a relationship with a man and if he raped her. White responded that he had and in turn, Scott said they must kill him, according to the district attorney.

Both of them got off the bus a little bit away from White’s house and spent time together and fired Scott’s gun, the media release says. Both walked to White’s home and Scott introduced himself to DeLisa as White’s brother from Texas.

A short time later, DeLisa was shot twice in the head. His body was discovered the following day during a welfare check, according to the district attorney. White and Scott stole DeLisa’s wallet before leaving the home and spending a few days in the area before Scott left. White never saw him again, according to the media release.

White is scheduled to be sentenced on April 4.
