Slovan Bratislava director general Ivan KmotrIk has challenged David Strelec’s suitors to submit an “offer that can’t be refused” amid interest from Celtic.
Time is rapidly running out for the Scottish Premiership champions to find a successor for Kyogo Furuhashi after his £10m switch to Stade Rennes – with Adam Idah left as the only recognised first-team striker at the club should the deadline pass without a new recruit. Johnny Kenny has made just one appearance since returning from his successful loan spell at Shamrock Rovers – while Daniel Cummings future is up in the air as he nears a switch to West Ham.
Record Sport revealed that Strelec is one of the names that is on the Hoops’ radar with time running out – and the the Slovakian champions have been bullish in their stance over an exit for the 23-year-old throughout the month. But amid reports in Slovakia that Middlesborough have seen a last-gasp £6m bid rejected, KmotrIk has made his feelings clear on Strelec’s future.
He told Sport: “Our goal is to keep the squad together and fulfil our objective. That means to defend the title. If Dávid were to leave, it would be a noticeable weakening for us.
“The amount offered would have to be radically high for us to consider his transfer. It has to be an offer that can’t be refused. And we are very far from that.”
The comments come amid speculation that Danny Ings could be making a loan exit from West Ham for Celtic Park – with Southampton also showing late interest. A deal appears to be drifting with the 32-year-old named on the bench for the Monday night clash with Chelsea by boss Graham Potter.
