Hamilton Accies face a deadline day sweat to hold on to star striker Oli Shaw.
The club’s top goalscorer and second-top marksman in the Championship this season has been attracting interest from a number of sides as the clock ticks down towards 11pm tonight.
Lanarkshire Live Sport understands clubs in the Premiership and Championship have enquired about a deal for the former Motherwell and Kilmarnock man after an impressive campaign in front of goal this season.
The 26-year-old has netted 15 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions this season, with 10 of them coming in the league but that hasn’t prevented Accies from slipping to second bottom in the division following Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Ayr.
Shaw still has two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract at New Douglas Park and it would take a strong offer to prise him away from South Lanarkshire, with Accies very reluctant they let their star man go in the middle of what is turning into a relegation battle at the foot of the Premiership. John Rankin’s men are currently in the play-off position in ninth spot, nine points clear of Lanarkshire neighbours Airdrie.
If Shaw were to go it would be a sickening double-whammy for the Accies faithful, who are reeling from the announcement that club captain Scott Martin has left the club and will now join their Championship rivals Partick Thistle.
Meanwhile, it is understood Chris McGinn could be on the way out on loan. The 19-year-old defender spent the second half of last season on loan at Clyde and the club are seeking a similar arrangement with a lower league club.
