Under California Penal Code 314(1), indecent exposure is defined as intentionally displaying one’s naked body or genitals in a way that could offend or annoy others. The law specifies the act must be both “wilful and lewd” to constitute a crime, requiring proof of intent to attract attention or cause offense or sexual gratification. Reports from the US Mirror suggest some critics believe Bianca’s choice of attire could fall within this definition.
A first-time offender under this law could face up to six months in jail or a fine of £800. Repeat offenses carry harsher penalties, including potential state prison time and registration as a sex offender for up to ten years.
Beyond the legal implications, Bianca’s provocative look ignited a firestorm on social media. One user tweeted, “Kanye and that lady should be arrested for that stunt on the red carpet… #GRAMMYs.”
