The Lloyds banking app appears to be down, with hundreds of customers “unable to make or receive payments”. Consumers have run into trouble today, Monday, February 3, as they attempt to move their money around online.

According to Downdetector, a website that tracks outages and issues with a range of services across the country in real time, around 400 people have been experiencing difficulty since the early hours of the morning.

There have been 406 reports altogether, as of shortly before 8am. The majority of reported problems are around fund transfers, with over 60 per cent of people struggling. Meanwhile, 24 per cent and 14 per cent of people have signalled issues with their online banking and mobile banking respectively.

The outage map appears to show most of the difficulty taking place in England although there is some light activity around the Glasgow area in Scotland. It is not yet known how widespread the issue is across the UK.

Angry users have taken to X, previously Twitter, to air their frustrations.

One wrote: “Mine and my partners salary transfers have not been received into our Lloyds accounts, despite having debited our HSBC business account and we both have payments due out. What is going on?”

A second scribed: “Sent money over 2 hours to my Lloyds account it’s still not received in my account”.

A third fumed: “Sort out your system!! Sent money to my account over 2 hours ago now!!! Normally goes in instantly wtf is going on… People have children to provide for which are having to go without because the money wasn’t there straight away on an ‘instant’ transfer.”

Lloyds Bank has since released a statement, acknowledging and apologising for the issue and promising to make it right soon.

“We know some customers are having issues making or receiving payments,” a spokesperson said. “We’re sorry for this and are working to have everything back to normal.

“We’re looking to resolve this as soon as possible. Faster Payments are currently being processed however we are experiencing some delays.”

If you’re affected by the outage, you’ll get details of how you can make a complaint by clicking here, the spokesperson added.
