Hamilton Accies captain Scott Martin will join their Championship rivals Partick Thistle in a deadline day move.
The midfielder, whose Accies contract was up in May, has spent the past seven years at New Douglas Park and will now join the Jags after several club showed an interest in his services over the last few days.
Accies fans were up in arms after the skipper was benched for Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Ayr United, which saw angry protests towards the board of directors and boss John Rankin at the full-time whistle, and a 3-0 defeat to Raith Rovers on January 28 has proved to be Martin’s last for the club.
Martin joined the club from Hibernian in 2018 and has gone on to make over 150 appearances for Accies, leading them to the SPLF Trust Trophy win in 2023, which was the club’s first cup win for 30 years.
The 27-year-old would be set to face Accies in April when the Jags host them in a Championship clash.
Meanwhile, Lanarkshire Live Sport understands Accies are looking to bring in a couple of fresh faces on deadline day with negotiations on-going ahead of the 11pm deadline. But domestic loan moves can be completed after the deadline, with clubs having until the end of the month.
