Detectives are appealing for dashcam footage after a man was the victim of a serious assault in Bothwell, Lanarkshire.

At around 12.55pm on Wednesday, January 15, a 36-year-old man was walking on the footpath near to Main Street in the South Lanarkshire town when he was approached by two men and attacked.

He was taken to hospital for treatment and later released.

The suspects are described as being in their late 20s to early 30s and one was carrying a white carrier bag.

Police said they are checking CCTV in their hunt for the perpetrators.

Detective Constable Ross Kirkland added: “Since this assault was reported to police on Wednesday, January 22, we have been carrying out enquiries to establish more detail and establish the full circumstances. This has included reviewing CCTV footage from in and around the area.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the Main Street area around the time of the attack who has any information to please contact us. I would also appeal to anyone with dash-cam or private CCTV footage which may assist to get in touch.”
