An Edinburgh-bound passenger flight has reportedly declared an in-flight emergency after the pilot issued an alert.
The United Airlines flight from New York took off at 11.27pm on Sunday, February 2. It was expected to touch down in the Scottish capital at 7.55am on Monday, February 3, but a delay in leaving Newark Liberty International Airport meant it was instead due to land at 10.24am.

The exact nature of the mid-air emergency is currently unknown, however a squawk 7700 alert often means there has been a problem with the aircraft itself or a medical situation onboard.
Flight UAL36 sent out the squawk alert as it approached Ireland at around 9.45am on Monday, reports Edinburgh Live.
United Airlines have been approached for comment.
