Millwall have agreed a deal with Rangers to re-sign Zak Lovelace.
A deal which could eventually hit seven figures with add-ons has been thrashed out between the clubs on the morning of transfer deadline day. The striker has now been given permission to hold talks with his former clubs. The 19-year-old came through the ranks at Millwall before he moved cross-border to Rangers in 2022.
Rangers had offered Lovelace a new deal but he had turned it down, with more lucrative offers on the table from south of the border. The Light Blues have decided to maximise their money now rather than take a development fee in the summer.
Lovelace was tipped for big things but only made a handful of appearances at Ibrox. Philippe Clement revealed that Lovelace missed Sunday’s win over St Johnstone with a minor injury. One man who is NOT leaving Rangers on deadline day, though, is Ridvan Yilmaz.
The Turkish full-back has been linked with a return home to rejoin former club Besiktas. But Record Sport has been in touch with the player’s representatives, who made clear Yilmaz is happy in Glasgow.
That will delight boss Clement, who is keen to keep hold of the 23-year-old. Yilmaz sat out Sunday’s 4-0 win over Ross County but Clement said: “He’s injured. We want to keep all our players that perform well.
“We can only let players go if we can replace them with better players, so I don’t expect that in the case of Ridvan. You never know with others, but if that’s the case, you need to be replaced by at least the same level. That’s what we agreed.”
Elsewhere, Rangers have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Chelsea youngster Aaron Anselmino after a loan move for the defender to Marseille fell through. According to the Sun, the Argentine is a target for Clement and the Daily Telegraph now report that as it stands, Anselmino will not be heading to the south of France.
