Prince Harry’s close friend Chris Martin has confirmed he will support the Duke of Sussex at his huge upcoming event.
The Coldplay frontman has been announced as the latest star for the starstudded opening ceremony line-up at the 2025 Invictus Games in Vancouver.
The singer will perform at B.C Place Stadium on February 8, joining other headliner acts including Katy Perry, Noah Kahan and Nelly Furtado.
Organisers said in a statement that the performance will serve as a “powerful tribute to hope, resilience and the Invictus Spirit at the heart of these Games”.
The opening ceremony will kick off the week-long international competition – which starts on February 16 – across Vancouver and Whistler.
Martin’s involvement with the Invictus Games dates back to when they were first founded in 2014 by Prince Harry, when he composed the Invictus Anthem.
The Grammy Award-winner’s composition has since become a staple at the Games, playing during medal ceremonies at every tournament.
The Invictus anthem was inspired by William Ernest Henley’s poem “Invictus,” which features the moving lines that sparked the competition’s motto: “I am the master of my fate, I am the competition of my soul.”
Martin’s upcoming performance comes as a full-circle moment for the singer, whose music has been integral to the Invictus Games’ ceremonies for over a decade now.
The 2025 Games next month will see up to 550 athletes representing 23 nations to compete in British Columbia.
