There are many factors that affect the cost of our car insurance. From the size and age of your car to where it’s parked overnight, there are many reasons you might have to shell out more.
But your profession can have an impact on the cost of your car insurance and influence the price you pay.
New data from Go.Compare car insurance has shown that people in some jobs pay out far more than others. Those in the jobs paying the most will have to shell out on average £641 for annual premiums.
The research also revealed the jobs with the lowest priced insurance premiums and found that the profession with the cheapest premiums paid just £319.
The job with the highest cost for car insurance was a roofer while medical secretaries benefit from having the cheapest car insurance of any profession.
Tom Banks, Go.Compare car insurance spokesperson, said: “When it comes to calculating the price of your car insurance, providers will consider a number of factors – like where you park your vehicle, where you live, and how many miles you drive. They also look at the kind of work you do, as different professions represent different levels of risk.
“If your job typically involves a lot of driving, or presents additional risks due to the nature of the work, then you might see higher insurance premiums. Conversely, if your profession is one that doesn’t generally involve much driving or obvious risk at all, then you could potentially find yourself paying less for your car insurance.”
